Move over Americone Dream and Late Night Snack, you’ve been supplanted as the best ice cream flavor Ben & Jerry’s makes. Because while wandering a Target while traveling for business, I knew I couldn’t buy any toys because I would have to fly back with them but I could buy some ice cream and grabbed a pint of the Volun-Tiramisu.
This positively delicious s’cream of appreciation goes out to the world’s volunteers, for their conscious commitment to making a difference, creating positive change and improving the quality of life in their communities. Devouring spoonfuls while watching Anthony Bourdain go on about South Boston; I couldn’t get over how amazing the ice cream was and mostly ignored the episode of No Reservations. This ice cream is better than Anthony Bourdain. I said it.
The base is an exceptional mascarpone and coffee that is more than exceptional. The creamy consistency and thicker than most ice creams, almost making it feel like gelato. The flavor was out of this world. The coffee and mascarpone blended harmoniously together creating quite possibly the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted.
Within the ice cream were miniature rum-soaked ladyfingers coated in cocoa. These little nuggets added so much flavor and managed to not get soggy from being in ice cream. The light cocoa prepares the tongue for a burst of rum flavor. When it’s all eaten together, it tastes exactly like tiramisu that happens to be ice cream.
Sure, the name isn’t the best and it’s super weird that Ben & Jerry’s doesn’t have ANY reference to the flavor on their website, but this is delicious. With it being a Target exclusive, I worry not enough people will get to experience this flavor. It needs to be sold in more places!
